Meta-owned Instagram is currently testing a new feature that will allow users to share feed posts just with the ‘Close friends’ group. This will eliminate the need for users to create another account specifically for connecting with their close friends.
In the last few days, many X users have spotted this new feature. Also, the company confirmed to TechCrunch that it is testing this feature in a few countries, but didn’t specify which ones.

With the option to share feed posts just with close friends, users will have the flexibility to share more personal moments with a smaller group that they choose.
Back in 2018, Instagram had announced the ability for users to make a close friends list on Stories and share with just the people they have added.
On September 6, 2023, Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced that the social networking platform is testing a feature for users to tag a location in Notes. "We’re testing the ability for people to tag a location in Notes. People are using notes to share thoughts, moods, and and even places. We want to make it easier to connect over where you’re hanging out, get new inspiration for spots to visit and more. I’m psyched for this because sharing where I am has been one of my favorite things to do with notes," he wrote on his Instagram Broadcast Channel.
Mosseri didn’t provide any further details about the upcoming feature, but he did share a screenshot of the new functionality. According to the screenshot, the tagged location will be displayed above the text in Notes, similar to how added music clips are shown
