Best 5G phones from Redmi 2023 in India

5G has become affordable over the years and one brand that has tried to equip its new launches with 5G capability is Redmi. The Xiaomi sub-brand releases 5G smartphones for value-conscious consumers. Now most of the good phones these days do have 5G onboard because 5G is one of the many features that make a good phone. So, the phones curated here are also one of the best Redmi phones out there.

1. Redmi Note 12 Pro+

Redmi Note 12 Pro+ gets 5G capability thanks to MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset. The chip claims up to 2770 Mbps download speed and up to 1250 Mbps upload speed. Besides the 5G chipset, the phone also features a 120Hz FHD+ Dolby Vision OLED screen, a 200MP high-res camera with 4K30 fps video recording support, an 8MP ultrawide snapper, and a 2MP macro unit, a 16MP selfie shooter, and a 5000mAh battery with 120W wired charging support.

Go for this one if you have a budget close to ₹30,000 as this happens to be the best Redmi 5G 5G phone (in our opinion) in India.

2. Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G

Redmi Note 12 Pro also ships with download speeds of up to 2770 Mbps download speeds and up to 1250 Mbps upload speed as it bears a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chip. However, Redmi has cut costs in other areas like the camera (50MP main shooter instead of 200MP on the Plus) and a slower charging speed (67W vs 120W on the Plus). Now, if you aren’t concerned about these diminishing returns on the Plus variant, you can consider the Note 12 Pro 5G.

It also packs a 120Hz AMOLED display, Android 12 with MIUI 13, the same ancillary cameras, battery size, and the rest of the paraphernalia as the above one.

Go with this one, if you prioritize one of the best 5G phones from the Redmi stable but don’t care about the above-mentioned premium features offered by the Plus edition.

3. Redmi K50i 5G

Redmi K50i ships with Mediatek Dimensity 8100 SoC (up to 2.8GHz top clock speed) that claims up to 4700 Mbps download speed and up to 2500 Mbps upload speed. The phone offers UFS 3.1 storage. The software it boots with is Android 12 that you can update to Android 13-based MIUI 14. You can power the device with a 5080mAh battery with 67W speedy charging. In terms of cameras, you are getting a 64MP prime sensor, an 8MP 120-degree ultrawide and a 2MP macro module. The screen is of 144Hz, FFS LCD in nature, FHD+ in resolution and sports Dolby Vision content support.

Go for this one if your budget is around INR 20K to INR 25K and you want a fairly powerful Redmi 5G phone for gaming and power use.

4. Redmi Note 12 5G

Although this is at the bottom end of the Note lineup, it is equipped with a dependable Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC and download speeds up to 2500Mbps and up to 900Mbps uplink speeds.

On the front of the phone, there is a 120Hz AMOLED with FHD+ resolution. Unlock and you are welcomed by MIUI 13 based on Android 12. The supported storage standard is UFS 2.2 which is slower than the aforementioned UFS 3.1. The supported 33W charging is also slower in comparison but fine for the asking price. The camera department has a 48MP primary camera, 8MP 120-degree ultrawide snapper, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 13MP selfie shooter.

Redmi 11 Prime makes a strong value proposition with Dimensity 700 5G chipset that is rated to support up to 2770 Mbps download speed and up to 1250 Mbps upload speed. The chipmaker notes this is the first mainstream smartphone 5G chip to feature “5G Carrier Aggregation (2CC 5G-CA) and Dual 5G SIM”.

Other than 5G, Redmi has also stowed in a 50MP+2MP dual camera setup, a 5000mAh battery with 18W charging support, a 90Hz FHD+ LCD panel, and Android 12 with MIUI 13 software support.
